Duncan George Herbert Harvey 19422021

Duncan George Herbert Harvey
1942-2021
Duncan George Herbert Harvey died on
February 13th, 2021 at the age of
78.
Born in 1942 to Edith and John Harvey,
he was the fourth of five children. At the age of twelve in 1954, he
immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings, settling in
Saskatchewan.
Duncan dabbled with many trades during
his lifetime. One would say much like a millennial. In 1959 he joined
the Canadian Navy out of Saskatchewan and served until 1963. He then
worked as a linesman for Nova Scotia Power. He married then decided to
join the military again, this time he joined the Airforce as an
integral systems technician. He served at CFB Trenton and CFB
Greenwood. He left the Airforce in 1966, rejoining in 1967. In 1972 he
was posted to CFB Baden in Germany then returned to CFB Greenwood. In
1978 he left the military to start his own business, Val Air, as a
heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technician. He re-married
in 1980 and left his business, joining a larger, strictly wholesale
business, REFAC, in Moncton. He worked for them until the
1990’s. He then dabbled in different employment
opportunities in Penticton, BC, Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge
Alberta before returning to Riverview.
Duncan loved the Maritimes, he loved
the Airforce and talking politics. He was a member of the Masonic
lodge. His hobbies included RC airplanes, puttering in the garage and
computers.
He was a proud and loving son,
brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Duncan is survived by his two
daughters Lisa Harvey (Laurie), Heidi Betyna (Rick) and his stepson
David Bickle (Vanessa), his six granddaughters Stephanie, Hailey,
Dayle, Taylor, Brooke, and Allyson and his two grandsons Matthew and
Patrick. He is also survived by his three sisters Kathleen Thompson,
Mavis Kent, and Freda Murfin. He was predeceased by his wife
Jeannette, stepdaughter Kim Horan and his brother John
Harvey.
Special thanks go out to the staff at
the Salvation Army’s Lakeview Manor in Riverview NB. They
went above and beyond to care for Duncan and ensured our family was
able to have a special connection given the pandemic restrictions
imposed.
Duncan requested that no service be
held. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity or
visit your local Red Cross clinic to donate blood.
His arrangements have been entrusted
to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 330 Whitepine
