Obituary of Dr. William Keith Buller
BULLER – Dr. William Keith MD, Msc, FRCS.
Dr. William Keith Buller MD, MSc, FRCS passed away peacefully in his 95th year with his family at his side. Beloved husband of and sadly missed by Helen (Stahley), who contributed so much to our Dad’s long and happy life over the last 22 years. Predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara (Tucker) (1996), wonderful mother of his 4 beloved daughters; Judy (Gary) Millington, Cathy (Bob) Hylands, Patti (Sean) Clarke and Pam (Jim) Bray who miss him dearly. Loved and respected by his wonderful grandchildren: Erin (Jonathan), Katelynn (Charlie), Christopher (Corrin), Natalie (John), Joshua (Tamarah) and Mandi (Ben) and his great grandchildren Elias, Logan, Owen and Elliana. Sadly missed by his Stahley step-sons; Mark, Todd, Kurt and their families. Predeceased by his parents Errol Firth Buller 1887-1981 and Mabel Pearl Buller (nee Broughton) 1897-1980. Dr. Buller graduated in 1951 from the University of Western Ontario. His post-graduate training was at McGill University and Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where he met and married his wife Barbara. He was active on the medical staff of Brantford General Hospital and St Joseph’s Hospital Brantford for 35 years. He was past president of Brant County Medical Association. He was Warden, board member and long-time member of St Stephen’s, and then member of Grace Church. Dr. Buller was a compassionate and caring family physician and surgeon who served the Brantford community, first from his office on Erie Ave, then from the Central Professional Building on Brant Ave for almost 40 years. His daughters still have former patients come up and say how wonderful he was and how much they missed him when he retired. He was happiest at the cottage in Parry Sound where he enjoyed the blue skies, the scent of pine and especially being on the water in his boat, poking into channels and inlets and exploring Georgian Bay. He has been able to enjoy every summer there since 1967, even in his 90s (including last year!) In earlier years, winter weekends were enjoyed skiing in Ellicottville. He had a wonderful singing voice, could play the piano beautifully by ear and was very artistic. Happily he has passed his love of science, nature, music and art to his children and grandchildren. Bill was a wonderful husband and father who made sure to tell us that he loved us at every opportunity. He was a gentle man and a true gentleman. The family would like to thank Dr Brian Lee for his care, the lovely, caring Palliative Care team on C7 at the BGH, and the compassionate staff of the rehab ward on B2 and B7 where he received excellent care. A private service will be held at the McCleister Funeral Home, Brantford, Interment to follow at Farringdon Burial Ground. If wished, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Brantford General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.
