BLUME, Dr. Warren T. CM,MD,FRCPC
The family of Dr. Warren Blume announces his passing on Monday,
September 13, 2021. He is survived by his wife Lydia, daughters Christine (Gary), Sonia (Stephen) and Valerie (Eric), grandchildren Gavin, Nigel, Jeremy and Natalie, sister-in-law Hélène, brother-in-law Jeffrey (Hélène) and nephew Yves.
Warren’s career began with earning a B.A. from Princeton University followed by pursuing his M.D. at McGill University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his internships and residencies at Montreal Children’s Hospital, University of Wisconsin, Mayo Clinic, and Hôpital Port Royal, Université de Paris, France. In 1972, Warren joined the Department of Neuroscience at University Hospital London Health Sciences Centre as a neurologist and electroencephalographer. He later became a professor emeritus of neurology at Western University in 1999. Along with Dr. John Girvin, Warren co-founded one of Canada’s largest epilepsy units.
Warren received several awards recognizing his commitment to improving the treatment and management of epilepsy: Ambassador for Epilepsy Award (International League Against Epilepsy) 2009, Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012, J. Kiffin Penry Excellence in Epilepsy Care Award (American Epilepsy Society) 2012, and Order of Canada 2012.
Warren’s family would like to thank the staff at University Hospital London Health Sciences Centre for the excellent care and kindness he received as a patient.
A private family funeral will take place.

Sad to hear of Warren’s passing. We worked together for 25 years at UH, London, Ontario. He was always knowledgeable, kind, and effective. He is missed. AJ Fox MD, Toronto.

He always made sure my daughter had the right medication and dosage. He was the best doctor we ever met and he will never be forgotten. With respect and Admiration
