Dr. Leonard Prosterman
It is with profound sadness that the family of Dr. Leonard Prosterman shares the news of his passing on the Sabbath, Saturday, November 6, 2021. Loyal son of the late Paul Prosterman and the late Clara Saltzman. Loving and devoted husband of Eunice Kirman. Proud father of Paul, Dr. Beth and Kim (Jonathan Maldoff). Doting ‘Papa’ to Jaclyn Shiff, Ryan Shiff, Jillian Dorsey, and Lauren Dorsey. Adored brother and brother-in-law of Rose and the late Bernard Gold, and brother-in-law of Dr. Perry and the late Sandra Segal, Leah and the late Steve Kirman, Dr. William (Bill) Kirman and Betty Ifergan. Beloved uncle to ten nieces and nephews, with a special place in his heart for Dr. Jewel Gold. Leonard will be sadly missed by his family, many friends, and colleagues.
Born and raised in Montreal, Lenny (Label) obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree and then graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the McGill Faculty of Dentistry and was awarded the Lieutenant Governor Silver Medal on graduation. He received his Master of Science in Orthodontics from Temple University, Philadelphia, was awarded the prestigious Fellow of the International College of Dentists and was a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Lenny had a passion for the practice of orthodontics, building a remarkable private practice, teaching as a professor of orthodontics at the McGill Faculty of Dentistry, heading the orthodontic clinics of the Jewish General and the Montreal General Hospitals, and serving as president of the Alpha Omega Dental Society amongst many other professional accomplishments. He always remembered a patient, even decades later, and took great pride in his high standards and the big, beautiful smiles he left. Lenny was an avid golfer, skier, and tennis player, and had a notorious sense of humor. He was a masterful storyteller and orchestrator of practical jokes, which gave him and those around him so much laughter and joy. He formed lifelong meaningful friendships with many, but nothing surpassed his love and partnership with his wife, Eunice.
The family sincerely thanks the doctors, nurses, other health professionals and staff of the Jewish General Hospital, particularly the ICU, for their dedication, support, and humanity. A private funeral service to take place. Due to limited numbers allowed in funeral homes, attendance is by invitation only. The service will be presented by Zoom (link to follow on this site).
