Obituary of Douglas Arthur Gillis
Age 80, Sherbrooke, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax, September 18, 1941 to the late Douglas Gillis and Georgina Smith. He than moved to Sherbrooke in 1946. Doug joined the army for 12 years, he was stationed in Gagetown, Petawawa, Germany, and a tour in Cypress. After retirement from the army he was a security guard with Scotiabank until 2019. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies and was an avid Toronto Blue Jays Fan. Survived by brother, Wayne, Liscomb; Michael, Halifax; sister, Maureen McLean, Barrie, Ont. Doug was predeceased by sisters, Marsha and Elizabeth; and brother, Gordon. Cremation has taken place.   1. Doug was the first person I met at Scotiabank before I even started there as we road the bus in from Sackville. He was a great guy, wonderful storyteller, and had the best laugh. Before he retired he let me record it as my e-mail notification so I would still hear him everyday. This is sad news for everyone who knew him. RIP Dougie.
