With deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the peaceful passing of Douglas Tong Him Wong in Edmonton on October 3,2021 at the age of 85 years.
Douglas was born in Canton, China in 1936 and immigrated to Canada to Maple Creek Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents Dip & Doun Shee Wong, his brother in Brazil and his sister Cheung King Wong of New York.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta, he worked for Northern Alberta Railway and Canadian National Railway Company till his retirement in 1991.
Douglas was a passionate man who loved everything to do with computers. He enjoyed taking photos, golfing, skiing, ballroom dancing and bridge. Solving logic problems and puzzles brought him joy.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Jean of 51 years; children Tina (Wayne), Vincent and Gina (Wilson); grandchildren Brandon, Jordan, Cole, Owen and Tobiah.
A Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Connelly-McKinley Downtown Chapel, 10011-114 Street NW Edmonton. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 9, 2021, also at the Connelly-McKinley Downtown Chapel.
Attendance at the visitation and funeral service will follow COVID guidelines. All attendees must either provide their proof of vaccination or a negative test result (within 72 hours of the service time) and photo ID.
If friends and family desire, Memorial Donations may be made in Douglas’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
