Obituary
It is with great sadness that I announce the unexpected passing of my brother, Doug on Sunday, October 24, 2021, in Kelowna Hospital.
Doug was born in Vancouver, BC on April 6, 1963. He is predeceased by his parents; Adam & Jean Ewasiuk. Doug is survived by his sister Cindy, brother-in-law Steve, nieces, Katie and Michelle, extended family and many friends.
Doug had many interesting hobbies; he loved astronomy since he was a kid, eventually building his own telescopes. He was fortunate enough to witness 2 total eclipses of the sun and a few of the moon. He enjoyed building and fixing pinball machines and computers. He had a collection of trains which he never got around to putting together a railway scene. Doug enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Mexican culture and food, horror movies and magic. Halloween was his favorite time of the year. He loved the companionship of his numerous cats all of his adult life.
Doug had worked for Weldwood of Canada, the City of Vancouver and then Shaw Cable. He was raised in Richmond on the family hobbie farm and then moved to Vancouver which he called home for many years. In 2016 he moved to Penticton where he happily enjoyed his retired life style around his pool listening to Yacht Rock.
We shall always remember Doug for his quirky sense of humor and his love of his extended family. He will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew him.
As per Doug’s wishes, the family will be spreading his ashes in the spring of 2022 on Mount Kobau in Osoyoos, BC where he loved to star gaze.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 7:00 pm at the Sullivan Community Hall, 6306 – 152nd Street in Surrey, BC
We ask that all of those who plan to attend to ensure that they are fully vaccinated, as we will be checking vaccine passports at the door as per Government rules.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary (www.kindredfarm.ca) or a charity of your choice.
