Obituary of Doug Hicks
Doug passed away peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Born on June 7, 1950, Douglas Keith Hicks of Owen Sound, was in his 72nd year.
Beloved husband of Edie Hicks for 20 years. Loving father of Shirley Croft (Roger) of Holland Centre, Doug Hicks Jr. (Tracey) of Kemble, Tiffanie Davenport of Owen Sound, Bobbi-Jo Henry of Owen Sound, and step-father of Patti Detta (David) of Orillia, Marty Zevenbergen (Irene) of Owen Sound, Sherry Diebel of Annan and Shelly Tripp (Geoff) of Collingwood. Proud grandpa of 24 and great-grandpa of nine. Dear brother of Betty Mitchell (Cliff), Gloria McKenzie, Bill Hicks (Christine) and brother-in-law of Helen Kivkimitzi (Angelo). Also missed by his feline friend, Magic.
Predeceased by his parents John and Eva (née Dean) Hicks, and by his siblings-in-law Shirley Smith and John McKenzie.
Cremation is taking place and memorial visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Thursday, July 22nd from 7 – 9 p.m. A graveside service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 178235 Grey Rd. 17A, Georgian Bluffs, on Friday, July 23rd at 11 a.m. With COVID 19 restrictions guests must wear a mask, follow social distancing protocols and RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent by visiting Doug’s memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
