Obituary of Doug Basil Stillwell
Douglas has passed over to join his father, Arthur; brother, Harvey and mother, Irene in heaven on April 12th, 2021. Born January 6th, 1933, Doug lived an amazing, happy 88 years. Born in Aroostook New Brunswick, raised in Millville, NB, then moved to Fredericton where he met his beautiful wife, Diane and together raised their daughter. Doug loved his work with the Province Department of Transportation and did two terms as City Council for his ward. He loved making friends and singing in the barber shop quartet. He took such pride in his flowers and his yard and even beamed when he decorated the house perfectly for Christmas. Along with attending the Baptist Church Douglas spent most of his weekends at his camp (Sparkle Lodge) in Juniper NB. Hunting, fishing, and poling the Miramichi river alongside his wife, was how he was recognized and of course by the love for his GMC trucks.
Douglas will be missed dearly by so many but will be lived on by his wife of 63 years, Diane Stillwell; his daughter, Heather Brooks, son in law, Dion Brooks; six of his grandchildren, Garnett Vroom, Forest Shaw, Ashton Shaw, Tiffany Brooks, Courtney Brooks, and Sierra Brooks; also, his beautiful Pomeranian, Sparky.
The family wish to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and other who so graciously provided above and beyond comfort and care. He really loved “his girls”.
Douglas Basil Stillwell, an amazing man with an amazing life. If you would have asked him how he was he would simply say “I am Still Well”.
