Dougald Dougie Howard Price 2021

Dougald “Dougie” Howard Price, husband of Alvina Jacqueline “Jackie” (Falconer) Price, peacefully passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, with his granddaughter, Karissa (Grampies’ girl), by his side, on Saturday, May 29th 2021.
He was born to Robert Kerr and Gwendolyn (Palmer) Price on August 19th, 1941 in Price Settlement. However, he always celebrated on the 17th as that is when his mother said he was born.
He was a mechanic by trade and a trucker by choice. He ran a gas station for several years and then found his love of trucking (especially pulpwood). He was known for stacking the truck as high as he could, to have the biggest load. He also ran gravel trucks and has probably worked on most of the local roads. Most times his faithful steed, Bobby was beside him as he worked.
Dougie lived his life with basic principles; he loved God, his family, and his community. He was a long-time member of Victory Worship Center, in Tabusintac. He was well known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone who needed it.
His garage was always open to anyone. In later years, he would sit and “supervise” the work that was happening.
Although he worked most days from sunrise to sunset, he did find time to enjoy the water, fishing and in younger years could be found racing his car – which he believed (and apparently proved a few times) was the fastest on the road.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie and together they raised four children, who he was extremely proud of; Sharon MacKnight of Tabusintac, Muriel Price Hamann (Paul) of Tabusintac, Rayelene Hernandez (Johnny) of Port Arthur Texas, Robert Price of Fort McMurray, and daughter-in-law of the heart Nancy Lambert of Esgenoopetitj.
His grandchildren; Danny MacKnight; Joanna, Jenny, and Jade St. Marie; Anthony, Mason and Micah Hernandez; Karissa Price; Larissa, Nick, and Josh Hamann; Janelle and Keandra Breau.
His most loved dog, Oscar.
His siblings; Raye Brown (Art) of Lower Newcastle, Una Hunter (Dave) of Riverview, Palmer Price (Anne) of Tabusintac and Archie Price (Elizabeth) of Ferry Road and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter Darlene Price and sister Mabel Patterson.
Due to covid restrictions, there will be no visitation. A celebration of life and burial will be held at a future date.
Dougie was a long-term resident of the Tabusintac Nursing Home where he resided with his wife. Over the last eighteen months, he often asked, “When will this curfew (COVID) be over and you can take me home?”
Dougies’ curfew is over and we know he is enjoying his Heavenly home!
The family would like to thank the Tabusintac Nursing Home staff for taking wonderful care of Dougie. They made sure he got his chocolate and tube chips (pringles). Also, a thank you to the staff of the Miramichi Regional Hospital, especially the Palliative Care Team.
The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out in to us with a phone call, text message, plants, or delicious food. We have found comfort in the stories and memories you have shared with us.
Donations can be made to the Tabusintac Nursing Home in his memory.
