Dorothy was much loved by family, friends, students and, indeed, by all who knew her. No surprise, for she lived her life with love and compassion.
No stronger love could there be than that she shared with Eric, her husband and partner for 70 years. Together, they left post-war Britain for a new life. In Australia, she was in the first group of mature students to graduate from the University of Tasmania, finishing top of her class. Coming to Canada, she took up teaching in Montreal and then Toronto, revelling each time she saw a spark in her students. In retirement, she took up quilting, transforming a traditional craft to an art form. At all times, she was a loving wife, mother, and friend.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Julien and Chris (Nancy), and grandchildren, Aran and Eva. We wish to thank all her friends who shared in her life. Donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity Northumberland.
She is now at peace and resting beside her true love once more.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy Yvonne
