Obituary
Dorothy went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 19, 2021.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents – Winnifred & Eric, her brothers – Tom, Fred and Eric, her sisters – Mary, Ruby and Muriel, her first husband – Fred d’Auteuil and her second husband – Jack Gerbrandt. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She enjoyed life and her faith in Jesus was her strength. She loved the fellowship of her church family and learning the truths of the Bible. She was kind, generous, compassionate and soft spoken…a gentle spirit. She reached out to help needy children through sponsorship and lots of prayer. She had a love for animals, dogs especially and enjoyed many years with several pets.
In 1990, her and her husband, Jack, embarked on a new adventure and moved to the Okanagan in beautiful British Columbia. They lived in Penticton for a time and later settled in West Kelowna. Around 2009, she moved to Village at Smith Creek care facility after being diagnosed with a form of dementia. Although it was difficult in the beginning, she kept her smile and light-hearted spirit.
A warm and heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of Village at Smith Creek care facility for your patient and loving care of Dorothy over the last several years.
Dorothy was a blessing to many and will be deeply missed, but our memories of our time with her will be of great comfort.
A short graveside remembrance will be held at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery on November 25, 2021 at 2:00pm. No service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, your donation to an animal rescue of your choice in Dorothy’s honour is appreciated.
