Dorothy Leslie Anne Rich was born to Clarence Lionel Rich and Dorothy Katie Rich on July 21, 1946 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She was the middle of 3 children, an older sister, June and a younger brother Allan. She lived in St. Vital, Winnipeg, MB on the banks of the Red River where she learned to swim in the river, went canoeing and picnicked along the way, skated on the river in winter, and caught crabs off the family dock.
Dorothy was an accomplished figure skater and competed in the Regionals. When she graduated she became the figure skating professional at the Flin Flon Figure Skating Club. Later she worked as a nurse’s aide. When she was looking for a nursing home placement she chose St. Norbert Personal Care Home as she had worked there and she loved the staff. It turned out to be a happy place for her for 17 years.
We would like to thank all the nurses and staff who cared for Dorothy over the years. They were always available to answer questions, kept the family posted, and happy to set up phone/Zoom calls for the family and arrange family pizza visits.
Dorothy will be laid to rest with her Father and Mother in Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
Dorothy is survived by sister June Hollands, brother Allan (Bev); nieces Wendy (Rick) Dysart, Debbie (Darren) Provost, Megan Keisler-Smith, Tennille (Serge) Paille and great nieces and great nephews Jessica, Daryl, Kaitlin, McKenna, Adrienne, Jensen, and Evynn as well as long-time family friend Vilma Johnson, who always faithfully visited Dorothy and was there for her when we were so far away.
Dorothy loved visiting her family and they had a special place in her heart. She will be lovingly remembered.
