Peacefully, on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Sumac Lodge, Dorothy Mary Beatrice Hinton passed away in her 97th year. Bea is survived by her granddaughters Wendy Kim Ghobril and Monica Jay Hinton, and great-grandsons Steven Taylor Ghobril and Eric Kurtis Ghobril. She is predeceased by son Ronald Maurice Hinton (August 2011), and spouse Peter Job Hinton (Feb 27, 2006). Bea was a field hockey athlete and seamstress for Christian Dior before WWII broke out, at which time she joined the fire brigade. Also, during the height of the war in England, she was air lifted to hospital, by helicopter, during labour of her only child. When the war ended, she ran an off-license variety store with her husband, where they met a Canadian immigration officer who later sponsored their move to Canada. Bea had a fondness for Canadians, as donations of food arrived from Canada during the worst part of the London bombings. When she immigrated to Canada following the war, she arrived with one trunk of belongings, and she lived her life in Ontario (Windsor and then Bright’s Grove/Sarnia). Bea owned and operated Hinton’s Market on Lakeshore Rd from the late 1960’s into the 1970’s. She grew her own fruit which she canned, and she loved to travel. Bea was a kind and loving woman with an open heart for all. Cremation has taken place. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sumac Lodge Recreation Department (cheques only at the funeral home please).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy Mary Beatrice Bea Hinton July 11th 1924 June 6th 2021..
