Dorothy Jones
1950-2021
Dorothy Jones passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2021
after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Moncton Hospice
“Albert House” with her loving family by her
side.
Dorothy was born in Riverside, Albert Co., on January 26,
1950 the daughter of the late Ellwood and Hazel (Hawkes)
Jones.
Dorothy was a very hard worker. She wasn’t afraid
to get her hands dirty and always got the job done no matter what it
entailed. She would put in wood, build sheds, do
carpentry and renovations all on her own. She worked at
various jobs over the years, CN, Tree Planting, Alternate Resident
Association (ARA), last working at Forest Dale Home as a Resident
Attendant and really enjoyed working with the elderly and giving them
the care they needed.
She was a member of the Lower Cape Baptist Church and
attended faithfully until her illness prevented her from going but she
was there in spirit. She was always there for the church and
her community. She volunteered at several
organizations, Shepody Food Bank, Moncton Crisis Pregnancy Center,
Karing Kitchen and Harvest House were some of them, she gave
of her time without expecting anything in return but
just wanted to help. She always showed up ready and willing
to clean or make sandwiches, whatever chore that needed done she would
tackle without hesitation. Dorothy also loved being outdoors
and gardening and just being in nature. She also enjoyed
playing the guitar whenever she got the chance.
Dorothy also knew how to have fun, she was a member of the
Hillsborough Seniors Club and enjoyed all the outings with the
group. She had a great sense of humour and loved to
laugh.
Dorothy’s main priority in life was her children and
grandchildren, she loved them all so much and wanted them to have
every opportunity in life. She was always there for
them in the ups and downs, never being judgemental but always being a
soft place to land. Her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, she took great comfort in
the fact they were doing well and had a very special bond with them
all. Even as she struggled with her own health issues, she
wanted to make sure they were okay and had everything arranged before
she could leave them.
She knew where she was going and was ready to go and meet
her Heavenly Father and walk on the streets of gold. She
will definately be hearing the words “well done, my good and
faithful servant.”
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Valerie Copp of
Riverview, Kimberly Copp (Shawn) of Hopewell Hill; son,
Allen Copp (Alanna) of Riverview; her precious grandchildren, Megan
(Kent), Michael (Amy), Alicia (Jeremy), Tyson ( Reba) and
Cohen; great-grandchildren, Colton, Olivia, Kaidyn, Khloe and
Brycen. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews
and by all her extended family and friends, church family and
community.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by sisters Pauline,
Helen and Davine; brothers, Willard and Charles; father of her
children and friend, Allison Copp, and her aunt Kay who had a special
place in her heart.
There will be a time of visitation at the Albert County
Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-9pm. A
Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life will be held at the
Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021at
2:00pm.
Donations to the Shepody Food Bank, Moncton Crisis
Pregnancy Center or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be
greatly appreciated.
The family are very grateful for all Dorothy’s friends that
took the time to stop in and check on her and play a game of cards, it
was very comforting to have that support. Thanks to Jackie
and Pam and the Staff of the Albert House Hospice for helping in her
care, it was wonderful and the kindness shown will never be
forgotten.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
