Dorothy’s Obituary
Dorothy (Dorie) Effie (Ward) Loden was born in Kirriemuir Alberta, on May 31, 1918.
Her family moved to Taylorside and then into the Glenmary District where she grew up. Her dad owned a country store where she worked, until her marriage to Bill (William) Loden on December 10, 1942.
Dorothy and Bill had two daughters Marlene Valma (Loden) Clayton and Valerie Effie (Loden) Anderson.
They worked on their farm until retirement when they moved into Kinistino, where she took on many roles as she was an entrepreneur at heart. She was known for flipping houses, and keeping the barter system alive.
Dorothy will always be remembered for having her door open to those who needed it. She was the type of person to step up and help out. She loved to laugh and be surrounded by people. One fond memory of her family is that she always set an extra plate aside for anyone who may come by in need of a meal during Christmas dinner, as she always made everyone welcome.
She loved being surrounded by people, reminiscing by looking at old photos, and telling stories to make people laugh. She loved playing games including crib, shuffleboard and everything in between. She was known for being a bit of a trickster, so you had to make sure that when you played with her you had all your wits about you.
Fond memories from the grandchildren include: putting cream on everything, watching the Young and the Restless; making sure to only speak during commercial breaks, the closet in her house that we all knew she would keep special items, velveeta cheese at night, wild pansies growing randomly in her yard, lilac trees wherever she lived, her year round blooming christmas cactus, vicks on her lips, and mints in her purse.
Her favorite place to be was in the pines, picking blueberries and cranberries.
She was a very adventurous cook, including chinese food, battered mushrooms & oysters, and was known for her great canning and distilling skills.
Dorothy always had a frozen treat set aside for anyone who stopped in for tea after her afternoon nap.
She had a great love for her family and her family for her, she will be fondly remembered.
She was predeceased by husband Bill (William) Loden, and her son in laws Wayne Anderson and Ted (Theodore) Clayton.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters Marlene Clayton and Valerie Anderson, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren listed in order by age. Darcee Clayton (son: Cole Batonyi), Trudy Anderson (spouse: James Samoleski, daughter: Ashley Smith), Murray Anderson (spouse: Shelly Larson), Sherry Anderson (son: Steven Soyko, daughters: Abby, Alex, Alli), Lori Desroches (spouse: Brent Desroches, daughter Alsin, son: Davin), Becky Clayton (daughter: Morgan, son: Hunter), Debbie Ferguson (spouse: Brant Ferguson, daughter: Breanna Nicholson (Tyler Edwardsen) (Bentley, Odin), daughter: Erika Nicholson)
Special mention to: Andy Johnson and family (Terry, Billie, Jennifer, & Andrea).
