Bonstrom, Dorothy Loverna
Dorothy peacefully passed away on September 6, 2021 with family by her side after a brief illness. Dorothy was predeceased by her father, Melvin Bonstrom and mother, Hilda (nee Meger); brother, Arthur and sister-in-law, Mary. She is survived by her brother, Merlyn and sister-in-law, Marilyn; nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Perdue, SK on September 28, 1936 and grew up on the family farm in the Kinley area. She was educated at Wheatfield and Kinley grade schools and attended the University of Saskatchewan before starting as a telephone operator in Outlook. Dorothy’s career with SaskTel took her to Saskatoon where she worked for over 35 years until her retirement. Dorothy was an avid gardener, often sharing her fresh and canned produce with family. She had a talent and passion for needlework, creating many beautiful pieces which she gifted to loved ones. A lifelong sports fan, Dorothy enjoyed participating in curling, cross country skiing, and bowling. Dorothy was devoted to her family spending many years living and caring for her mother and spoiling her nieces. Dorothy made many friends at Stonebridge Crossing while living there the last two years of her life. She will be greatly missed. Thank you to the staff on the 5th floor of RUH for care they provided Dorothy in her last few weeks. A Private Family Funeral will be held to honour Dorothy’s life.
