Dorothy Barbara Bennett 2021

It
is with great regret that the MacArthur family announce the passing of
their cherished mother, Dorothy Barbara Bennett (MacArthur) after a
lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Dorothy was born in Moncton NB, on
May 24, 1929 and passed away quietly at the George Dumont hospital
with all the love and support of her family. Dorothy was 91. Dorothy
was the daughter of Alfred Dewolfe (Shubenacadie NS), Marie Jones
(Boston Mass), stepfather Arnold Rietzel (Moncton) and stepmother
Elizabeth Weir (England).
Dorothy, also known as Dot, the proud
Matriarch of the MacArthur Family, had 7 children, 25 grandchildren
and 29 great grandchildren. She cherished each and every one of them
and was the epidemy of what a grandmother should be. Dot was not only
the matriarch of the MacArthur family but was a mother to the
neighborhood kids. She had a way of making everyone she touched, feel
that they were special and the center of her universe. Dorothy was a
woman of strong faith and a member of the Lewisville Baptist Church.
She enjoyed war time movies and loved to listen to old music on her
google home; Perry Como was her favorite. Dorothy loved to share a
good cup of tea with her daughters, while the grandchildren or great
grandchildren ravaged the house. Family was the center of everything
for Dot. Dorothy will be desperately missed and lovingly remembered as
she touched and enhanced so many lives. She lived a long and healthy
life and the family takes comfort that is she is peacefully at rest in
a better place.
Dorothy was pre-deceased by her first
husband Alexander MacArthur (1998), her second husband Edward Bennett
(2006), her oldest son Wayne MacArthur (1999) (Christina) and stepson
Michael Bennett (2018). Dorothy is survived by daughters, Sandy
MacArthur, Alexandra Melanson, Debby Morrisey (Rick), Pam MacArthur
Tourkmani (Farid), Eve Arsenault (Mark) and son Alfred MacArthur
(Janice). Dorothy is also survived by 3 stepchildren, Debby Bennett,
Susan Johnson and Dwight Bennett (Michelin). Dorothy is survived by
sisters, Betty Cormier, Sharon Lewis, Marilyn Carson (Allan), Alfred
(Ozzy) Dewolfe, Donnie Dewolfe (Leola), Brian Rietzel and Ray Dewolfe
(Loriene). She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Patsy Leblanc,
Velma Breau, Arnold Rietzel, Jimmy Rietzel, Mike Rietzel and Charles
Rietzel.
A
special thank you to her friend, neighbor and care giver Carol
Matthews, also the staff that cared for Dorothy during her time of
need at the George Dumont, unit 3E.
