Obituary of Doris Monica McDearmid
On Monday, October 11th 2021, Doris McDearmid, loving wife and mother of six children, peacefully passed away at the age of 85. Mom was born on November 15th, 1935 in Vernon Bridge, PEI to James and Monica Murphy. Raised in a large and loving Irish family, Mom knew from an early age that she wanted a family of her own. In 1955 she married the love of her life, George. Together they raised 6 children Monica Macdonald (Tom – deceased), Brett McDearmid, Ray McDearmid (Rachel), Tony McDearmid (deceased), Rosemary Bowlan (Dave), and Jennifer Penny (John). Mom gave her children the gift of unconditional love and support. As one of mom’s kids you always knew that no matter what, she was in your corner. Mom adored her grandchildren Mary, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Luke, Jacob, Matthew, and Kaitlyn. In her final years she and Dad were thrilled to welcome their great grandchildren Afton, Judah, Ethan, Keagan, Asher, Audrey, Wren, and Charlie to weekly “visiting hours” at their home in Charlottetown. She will be remembered for her gratitude, love, and laughter. We are so thankful for the life we had with her. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. A private service will be held for immediate family only. Interment in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Cemetery. Online memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
