Doris Johnston
1924-2021
Johnston, Doris J. (nee Wilhelm) – Passed away
peacefully at Hilltop Manor, Cambridge, with her daughter by her side,
on Saturday July 3, 2021 at the age 96. Predeceased by her
beloved husband Robert. Loving mother of Robert
“Paul” Johnston, Mary Ann Costa (Manuel), Jane
Johnston, Judy Johnston (Wolfgang Pawelowski) and Rose Mary Fordyce
(Tim). Cherished grandmother of Mark, Cathy, John, Rachel, Sandra,
Carly and Alexandra and great-grandmother of Noah, Mason, Amy,
Cameron, Roman, Hunter, Quinn, Lucas and
Alonzo.
Doris was an active member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic
Church for many years. She was a longstanding member of the Catholic
Women’s League. Doris volunteered for many years with Girl
Guides of Canada as a Brownie leader. She also volunteered for
Canadian Food for Children.
Doris completed the Ontario Home Weaving Services Foundations
Program in 1940, and spent many happy hours at her loom creating
beautiful hand-woven items. She was a founding member of the Galt
Guild of the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners. Through the 1980’s she
completed her Dyeing and Spinning Diploma through the Mohawk College
Continuing Education Program.
For many years, she and her husband Bob were members of the
Cambridge Swinging Eights Square Dancing Club.
Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., Cambridge,
where family and friends will be received on Wednesday July 7, 2021
from 6 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.
Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 53 Wellington St.,
Cambridge, on Thursday July 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. Cremation
will follow. Provincial Guidelines are in place for social distancing
and masks are mandatory for each person in attendance. To
reserve your 15 minutes to meet with the family at the Funeral Home,
or to attend the Funeral Mass, please call 519-740-0669 between 9 a.m.
and 4:30 p.m. to register your name and phone number (space is
limited).
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to
Canadian Food for Children.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all the
