Doreen Eadle 1936 2021

Obituary of Doreen Eadle
It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen (Garnett) Eadle of Saint John announce that she went peacefully home to heaven on November 8, 2021, at Kennebec Manor. Born in Saint John on February 11, 1936, she was a daughter of the late James Ennis and Kathleen (London) Garnett.
Doreen loved to sing, both in the church choir and at the Legion where she was a member of the Branch 69 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved God and always said her bedtime prayers and she was happiest when she could play bingo with Kathy or go to a dance where she could jive. She was funny and vibrant and even in the nursing home she insisted on keeping up with her hair colouring, putting her curlers in at night, having a lipstick in her pocket and her walker full of stuffies. She was generous and always wanted to have treats ready for guests or to take to any gathering and would insist that you take a stuffy or window dancer as a parting gift – she had lots of each to spare!
She is survived by her children: Jim (Bonnie) of Saint John, George (Belen Diso), Michael and Doug all of Edmonton, Dan (Jacqui) of Moncton, her only daughter Kathy (Greg) James of Saint John and Ricky of Calgary. Doreen is also survived by her sister Rhoda Merrithew of Saint John, many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Mary Luff; brother James “Sonny” Garnett; brother-in-law Doug Merrithew; grandson Jason Chiasson and partner Peter Barker.
Before she moved into later stages of Alzheimer’s, Doreen lived at Loch Lomond Villa where she had many friends who looked out for her and will also sadly miss her.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Kennebec Manor for their exceptional care of Doreen over the last few years and also for their care of us during her time in palliative care.
A celebration of life and burial will take place next year in Garnett Settlement.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Psalm 116: 15 NIV
For those who wish, donations in Doreen’s memory may be made to The Harbour Christian Church, Kennebec Manor or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
