Donna Roberta LeBlanc
North Sydney
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Roberta LeBlanc (nee Carlyle), age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Kemptown, Nova Scotia on June 30, 1932, Donna was the daughter of the late William Percy and Mary-Babe (Chisholm) Carlyle, both of Colchester County, East Mountain area in Nova Scotia.
Mourning Donna’s passing are; her husband of almost 69 years, Joseph Lawrence LeBlanc; her two sons David (Charlotte), Kirkfield, ON, Kevin, Thompson MB; daughter Marina (Nick) Sanders, Georges River, her grandchildren; Evan, John, Kyla, Kenny-Wayne, Donna Lynn, Sheri, Becky, Erica, Aaron, Emily, Little Kevin, Echo, Robyn, Rachel, Justin, Jessie, Jenna, Nicole, Marissa, Big Joe, Jared, Duke, Clarissa, Jimmy, Mike, Michelle and Tammy.
Donna was predeceased by her children Paul (Heidi), Larry (Theresa), Don (Heather), Tammy, Michel, her very special Aunt Vera Carlyle and her brother Clarence Carlyle.
While raising her children, including a set of twins, in downtown Toronto and Oshawa, she also managed to work at Precision Valve in Ajax, Ontario, as a quality Control Technician for over 25 years. Donna loved her grandkids, playing bingo and watching hockey, especially her Toronto Maple Leafs!
On quiet evenings on a warm summer night, if you listen carefully you can still hear Donna shout “Bingo”, “Shake up them balls” and “Shoot that damn puck”!
In keeping with Donna’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements will be under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Internment will occur at a later date and time. Memorial donations may be made to the North Sydney Food Bank, Salvation Army or a charity of choice.

Epitaph
When I die, give what is left of me away
To children and old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms around anyone
And give them what you need to give to me.
I want to leave you something,
Something better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I’ve known or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
And not in your mind.
You can love me most by letting hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go of children that need to be free.
Love doesn’t die, people do.
So, when all that’s left of me is love,
Give me away.
I’ll see you at home in the earth.
