It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donato Antonio Ruggiero who peacefully passed away at the Juravinski Hospital on Friday, December 24, 2021. Devoted husband of the late Maria Ruggiero (née Menecola). Beloved father of Nick (Mary) Ruggiero and Antonietta (Frank) Pizzingrilli. Cherished Nonno of Maryann (Flavio) Mascia, Donato (Karen) Ruggiero, Nicole Pizzingrilli (Adam), and Jessica Pizzingrilli.
Loving Nonno Grande to Michael, Marchello, Giuliana, Emma and Nicola. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, England and Australia. Predeceased by nine siblings. Dad was born on April 9, 1929, in Roseto Valfortore, Foggia, Italy. He had a deep love for family and for his many interests. Dad was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and sharing his passion for gardening and his love of animals and the outdoors. He loved to tell barzolette (jokes) and share life stories. His bigger-than-life personality, his booming voice, especially when singing, and his stories will be missed by all who knew him. Many thanks to the caring staff at the Juravinski Hospital and the Staff at Villa Italia, where Dad resided for the last eleven years. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick Church, 440 King Street East, Hamilton on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 10:00 am. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
