Donalda’s Obituary
NEW GLASGOW – Donalda Irene Clements, 87, New Glasgow, peacefully entered her eternal rest, Saturday, July 24, 2021, with her family by her side.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Goldie May Shepherd. Donalda had worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow and at Western Hospital, Toronto, Ont. She was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow and had served with the Ladies Auxiliary, Bertha Meyers Women’s Missionary Society and the After Five Club. Donalda possessed an enduring faith in her Lord and chose to live each day with her eyes uplifted. Upon her entrance into Heaven, may she have been greeted with the words, “Well done good and faithful servant…. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Surviving are her children, William Paul (Shirley) Lawery, Truro and his children, Ashley and Chelsea; Kathy Rhodes (Douglas), Lincolnville, her children, Abigail (Mark) and her daughter, Kahmya; Aaron and his son, Maliek; Adam; Brett Rhodes’ children, Donalda (Katherine); Troy (Tracey) and his children, Deaunte (Chantelle) and Aaliyah; Roman (Susan) and their children, Mia and Sophia; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Isaac Clements; sons, James “Jamie” Lawery and Brett Rhodes; sister, Margaret Elizabeth Shepherd; brother, Clyde (Frances) Shepherd; sister-in-law, Verdena (Borden) Shepherd; maternal grandparents, William and Abigail “Abby” (Clyke) Shepherd.
A private funeral service will be held in Second United Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Lennett Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
Many thanks to lifelong friends, Velma “Val” McPhee, Hilda “Aunt Hil” Allen, Irene Borden, Phyllis Patterson, Emily “Em” Gero, Patsy “Pat” De Chabert; special friends, Marita MacDonald, Debbie Kennedy, Virginia Smith and friends at Woodbine Crest who enriched her life. Donalda’s family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Staff, Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses and Home Support Staff for the wonderful care and support given.
