In Loving Memory of Donald W. McDonald
Passed away peacefully in his 97th year at Hyland Crest Senior Citizens Home, Minden on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
Beloved husband for 56 years to the late Frances McDonald (McCaig) and for 11years to Shirley Zieb-McDonald. Father of Rev. Frances Savill (Mark) and Ian MacDonald (Nadia) and step-father of Rosalie Howard (Alan) and Heather de Waal (Jeff). Grandfather of Jonathan, Sarah, Rebekah Savill, Kirsten, Robynne, Jacob and Erik. He loved all of his family very much. Predeceased by brother Malcolm of Ottawa, sisters Nancy Perkins of North Bay and Elizabeth of Brampton.
During World War II Don served in the Armored Corp. in Britain, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He graduated as a Certified Management Accountant in 1969. He had a long and varied business career, from 1946 till retirement in 2002. He represented, Sun Life of Canada, the National Cash Register Company (NCR Canada) and later was manager of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency in Barrie. After retiring from the Public Service in 1991 he worked as a tax consultant with Kent N. Richardson & Associates, in Barrie. He was an elder and active member in the Presbyterian Church throughout his life, and sang in the Choir at Knox Church in Sundridge.
A visitation will be held at the Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., 127 Bobcaygeon Road, P.O. Box 427, Minden K0M 2K0 on Friday, November 19th, 2021 from 10:30 am until the time of the Service to Celebrate Don’s Life at 11:00 am. Interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Eagle Lake on Saturday, November 20th at 1:00 pm.
Please Note # Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, a limited amount of visitors will be allowed in the Funeral Home for the visitation. The maximum of number of attendees for the service is 75 people with social distancing, face coverings, lists for the names and phone numbers of attendees are required for contact tracing.
Memorial Donations to the Knox Presbyterian Church in Sundridge or St. John’s Anglican Church, Eagle Lake would be appreciated.
