Donald Guilford Ruggles June 21 2021

Ruggles, Donald Guilford – It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Donald Ruggles on June 17, 2021 in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital.
Born on September 25, 1935 in Glenmore, he was a son of the late Charles and Ida (Rogers) Ruggles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sharon (Higgins); sons, Michael (Ellen), Derrick (Pam); daughter, Barbara (Matthew) Burris; grandsons, Myles, Ryan, Jarrett, Brenden; granddaughter, Danielle; great-granddaughter, Peyton; sisters, Jeannie (Ron) Lowe, Marjorie Isenor, Betty (John) Gladwin; sister-in-law, Marion; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ronnie; brother-in-law, Karl Isenor; nephews, Donald Gladwin, Stephen Hines and Douglas Hines.
During his working years, Donald worked at Edgar Annand Transfer; Stelco Steel, Hamilton, Ontario; Annand’s Steel, Truro and Taylor Lumber Limited, Middle Musquodoboit.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and playing his harmonica. He also enjoyed living-room family dance nights. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Donald was well known for his witty little sayings.
A special thank you to the Northwood Homecare girls, the nurses at the hospital and Dr. Fewer.
Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
