McMillan, Donald Gary – It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Gary McMillan, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and son. Don passed peacefully on October 11, 2021 at North Bay Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Joan McMillan and his brothers Robert ‘Bob’ and Elmer Junior. Left to mourn is his loving wife Carol McMillan, his daughters Charlene (John), Lorraine (Yannick) and Michelle (Rick) along with his grandchildren Jo-Anna, Celeste, Megan, Anthony and Mitchell. Also grieving are his sisters Jennifer (Jack), Norma-Jean (Rheal) and Betty (Bill) and his brothers Douglas (Nancy), and Rodney (Dawn). Don will be greatly by his nieces and nephews, especially Jo-Anne (Jerry) who was more like a daughter to him.
Born in Ottawa, Don later set down roots in his beloved Temagami where he was a well known Realtor, long-standing member of the Lions Club and good friend to many.
As per Don’s request, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home in Haileybury, ON. Interment to follow at Whispering Pines Cemetery, Temagami at a later date. An intimate service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
We would like to thank Dr. Brian Shaw for his continued support beyond his duty and for a long friendship. Thank you to the North Bay Regional Centre’s Chemo Department and Emergency Department who served efficiently the many times Don was there. The x-ray department deserves a lot of “Thank-Yous” with the often changing appointments. Kind thanks to Dr. Jani at the Cancer Centre in Sudbury and Dr. Leckie of North Bay. We are thankful for the support and sensitivity provided by Shayla from Home Care. Our family is truly appreciative of the care and support provided by the nurses on C3, especially Emma and Kelsey, along with Heather in the Emergency Department at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
As Don would always say,
“Who’s the best and why am I?”
