Donald (Don) Bykewich, AKA ‘Diesel’, long time resident of the Nampa/Reno area passed away November 22, 2021 at the age of 70.
Don farmed in the Nampa/Reno area for many years. In the winter he worked in the oilfield as a Roughneck on rigs, operated heavy equipment for oil and seismic companies and also road construction for his cousin Lorne Bekevich. After retiring in 2005, he took the odd job like helping the local farmers put in their crops in the spring and harvest in the fall. What he enjoyed most was driving water truck hauling potable water to many residences in the Peace River, Dixonville, Judah and Nampa areas where he would love to chat with the customers.
He loved to skidoo, quad and go fishing with his buddies. He travelled north to Alaska and spent three weeks there. Also to the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Don is survived by his loving wife Annette (Lorrain), sons Bradley (Stacy), Bruce (Dayna) and daughter Bonnie. Don will also be missed by his 7 grandchildren, sister Marlene (Lyle) Eastman, sister in law Diane, Aunties Nettie Sawann and Lissette Bekewich and Uncle Paul (Cheryl) Novak, 4 nieces and 1 nephew, as well as numerous friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Anne (Novak) and Nick Bykewich and brother Bernie Bykewich.
Many thanks to the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital in McLennan and the Peace River Hospital. Thank you to Dr. S Tan, the homecare nurses and to friends and relatives for their kindness and efforts.
