Obituary of Domenico Tavano
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 7, 2021 at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Peppina (née Paone) for 65 years. Loving and adored father of Sam (Joanne), Sera Daisley (Dave), Tony (late Lisa), and Mary Winger (Lloyd). Caring nonno Andrea (James), Adam (Carly), Michael (Katie), Nicholas (Vanessa), Matthew (Emily), Nathan, Zachary and Aaron. Domenic is survived by his sister Concetta Artirio, by his brother in-law Angelo Paonessa, and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Serafina, and by his siblings Vincenzo (Maria Rosa), Maria Giuseppa Paonessa, Santina Rotella (Salvatore), Giuseppe (Caterina) Rosina Paonessa and Edolinda Cantafio.
Domenico was born in Gimigliano, Italy and came to Port Colborne in 1953, and he was employed by INCO for many years. Domenico was a member of the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre and the Port Colborne Bocce Club. He loved to spend time in his garden, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A special thank you to Krystal, Dr. Scher and the staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion with our Dad.
Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. There will be a private family Funeral Service in the Armstrong Chapel and Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery.
