Dirl’s Obituary
SMITH, Dirl Edward – age 59, of Yarmouth, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2021 at home. Born in Yarmouth on January 15, 1962, he was the son of the late Dirl and Marjorie (Fenton) Smith. Dirl had many jobs over his lifetime, such as mowing at the Yarmouth golf course and a bouncer at the Clipper Ship. He was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends. He was a comedian and jokester; he was well loved by all his friends and family with many of them calling him Scrubby. Family meant everything to Dirl, especially his grandkids. Dirl is survived by his loving wife Angela (DeViller) Smith, his children Demone and Cordell Smith; step children Britt, Dylan and Jordon DeViller. Siblings Greg (Mary “Sis”) Smith, Sharon (Brian) Smith and Mike Smith; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his son Tyrone Smith and a sister Suzanne Smith. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where visitation will take place Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 2 p.m., from Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth, Rev. Alden Fells officiating. Interment will take place at Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery following the service. Donations in memory of Dirl may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stoke Foundation or the IWK Foundation.
