Obituary of DIANE DAVIES
Diane was born on May 5th, 1948. Diane leaves to mourn her husband Allan, brother in law Don Davies (wife Kathy), brother Leo, sister Marianne, son Jason, daughter Lisa, her grandchildren Amber and Sammy, plus her three great grandchildren Natalia, Adriel, and Jamieson. Plus Diane & Allan had many other friends that will miss her like Eadie, Lou, and Chuck McComb to name a few.
Diane was always helping people, and was a social worker and supervisor in group homes for Neecheewam. For the past many years Diane and Allan took care of many foster kids. Taking them on family trips to places like Florida, Las Vegas, and British Columbia. They tried to show these children a nice life, manners, and help prepare them for the world after school. Even after these children were out of Diane’s care, they often kept in touch with her, visited her and Allan, one even became a foster mother herself (Joyce).
Diane and Allan first met in 1984 at a social club. Diane learned about Allan’s caring nature from that first night. When Diane was running late to meet for a coffee, and when she didn’t show up on time, he went back to see if her car was stuck in the snow as it was a very cold night. That was just the beginning. They were married in 1986, and both enjoyed many of the same activities like: going to the horse races and betting on the ponies, dancing, playing card and dice games, camping, golfing, boating, casinos and traveling! Their travels took them to Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, British Columbia, Hawaii, and local spots across the US border.
They were two peas in a pod, filled with love and admiration for each other. If one was feeling down, the other one would pull them up. They were game to try new things, and they were there for one another no matter what. One of their favorite sayings was “Go big or go home!”
Allan started a new career in real estate in 1988. He moved to RE/Max on Henderson Hwy in 1991, and in the mid 1990’s Diane started at RE/Max on McPhillips Street, soo they could then say they had you covered from East to West! Diane and Allan both loved pets and they had a long time dog Jersey that was supposed to stay small but grew quite large, but they loved him to pieces all the same. Currently their pet is Piper, a very small and energetic Yorkypoo with attitude.
Diane and Allan both had agreed that their favorite holiday spot was Hawaii, and referred to it as “True Paradise”. They went sightseeing, golfing, touring, bar hopping, snorkeling, to see an amazing magic show, and yes Diane did a little shopping.
In June 2020 Diane started her battle with lung cancer and took radiation, chemo, and immunotherapy treatments over that summer. She slowly got stronger and was just starting to turn the corner, when she was diagnosed with COVID19. With her lungs weakened from cancer, Diane fought so very hard to recover, but at 7:15pm on June 19, 2021 Diane passed with her husband and best friend Allan beside her.
Diane had a special place in her heart for everyone that she met. Diane was a great person, friend, coworker, neighbor, mom, wife, cook, foster parent .Whatever your connection to Diane was; remember, all of your time and memories with her and she will forever be in your heart. Diane loved the Casino and she is probably enjoying the slots now with a Bailey’s and coffee!
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of DIANE
