It is with great sadness, but peace in our hearts that we say goodbye to Derek Ross Lerat,Masināsowi- kihēw”Spotted Eagle”.
,. He was born on July 6 1954 on the Cowessess First Nation, and passed away on September 11, 2021 In Saskatoon, Saskatchewan .
Derek was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Derek always loved to help and take care of whomever needed taking care of. Derek and his wife took in many foster children. Derek loved teasing and giving his nephews and nieces nicknames.
Derek will be loved and missed by his wife, children, grandsons and his extended family members.
Derek was predeceased by his Mother Florence Peggy Lerat and Father William Budgie Delorme; Brothers Frank and Herb; Sisters Ramona and Helena; Nephews Timothy, Kanata and Brian; Niece Tiffany; Grandsons George Jr, Creed and Noah; Brother-in-law Myke Ryder; Mother-in-law Yvonne Delorme and special Friend Joseph Lowe.
Survived by wife Gaylene; Sons Robert, Matthew, Andre and Dominick; Daughters Leah(Zane), Jaymee, Tyra and Gabby; Grandsons Greyson and Braxton; Brothers Dutch(Janice),Lou and Kieth Sanderson; Sisters Lorretta (Ira), Kathie, Mary, Wilma and Jelaine; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Wake will begin on Thursday September 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Cowessess Band Hall, Cowessess First Nation. Funeral Service will be held the following day, Friday September 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the same location. He will be laid to rest in the Cowessess Cemetery, Cowessess First Nation.
