Obituary of Deborah Hugh Fillmore
FILLMORE (WATTERS) , Deborah Hugh – of Milford, passed away peacefully in Truro on November 17, 2021 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born May 9, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Watters.
Debbie was fiercely devoted to her family, loved to travel, and was always up for a good feed of sushi and a good book. She had wonderful stories about her time spent in Germany and was a well-loved regular in Caissie Cape cottage country. Her dedication to late husband, Walter (Wally) was a love story for the ages, and the family takes comfort in the belief that they are now together once again.
Left to grieve are son, Kevin (Susan), Dutch Settlement; grandchildren, Maggie and Henry who will forever miss going shopping for goodies in Nan’s cupboards; sister, Anne, Milford; and nephew/second son, Kristopher (Brenda), Enfield. She will also be dearly missed by extended family in Caissie Cape, Moncton, and Advocate Harbour.
Debbie was also predeceased by daughter, Kari, in infancy.
We will miss her laugh, her loyalty, the way she would say “Just half of that!” no matter what size piece of cake you gave her, and the lessons we all learned from her.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. There will be no formal service at Debbie’s request.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their compassionate care.
Tributes, words of comfort and memories of Debbie may be shared with the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
