David’s Obituary
MacAskill, David Leslie ~ Age 72, of Somerset, Kings Co., formerly of Timberlea, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on April 2, 1949, in Truro, he was a son of the late Murray and Ethel (Wilcox) MacAskill. Growing up in the Kennetcook area, David spent his entire working life at HMC Dockyards in Halifax, working as a pipe fitter. After retirement, he and Barbara moved from Timberlea to Somerset in the Annapolis Valley. David was always an active member of the United Church of Canada in the various places he lived. He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 69, Berwick. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, the former Barbara A. Rhyno; son, Michael (Barbara Parsons), Halifax; sister, Lorraine (the late Randy); brother, Rodney (Barbara). A private graveside service took place at 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 9, in Kennetcook Cemetery, Kennetcook, Hants Co., with Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses – Annapolis Valley Branch or to your favourite charity.
