After a long battle with heart and lung disease, Dave passed away on August 5th, 2021 at the age of 69, at home where he was always most comfortable and where I could be with him.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Carl P. Hocquard and Thelma (Jennings) Hocquard.
Dave’s prayers to remain at home until the end were answered, taking that difficult decision out of my hands.
He will be missed by his wife of forty years, Ann Marie, his sister, Carolyne Killam and three nieces and a nephew, who were the songs of his heart. Kim Killam, Cindy Killam Rochemont (Jules), Sondra Hocquard (Chris Myers) and James Hocquard (Sue).
He reveled in their company and never missed a chance to surprise them with a trip to the woods, a ride in a boat, or just with well chosen words. He worked as forest ranger and a fisheries officer, which gave him many opportunities to share experiences with them. He also had a special place in his heart for all of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and many cousins he recently got to know. Dave was a past Master of the Lodge Saint John, #27, F&AM, of the Masonic Order.
Dave’s true friends were formed by mutual respect and trust. The kind of friendship that endures beyond death.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, brothers: Peter and James and brothers-in-law: Hal Killam and Ed Noël.
There will be a service at the First United Church, St. Patrick St, at a later date when covid allows.
I cannot express enough thanks to the Medavie nurses that have assisted over the last few years. We are so lucky to have had them. His doctors, J.P. Arseneau, who made sure Dave had everything he needed to be comfortable during his illness, Dr. N. Memiche, Dr. R. Memiche, Dr. Matteau and Dr. Sylvie Robichaud.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Hocquard 2021..
