David’s Obituary
GREENWOOD – David George MacDonald, 83, Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at home with his wife and daughters by his side.
Born in Thorburn, he was a son of the late Donald and Enid (nee Clark) MacDonald.
David was a mechanic by trade and was employed with the former V-8 Motors, New Glasgow for over forty years. He was a dedicated member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn where he served on the Board of Managers and was an Elder for many years.
In his earlier years, winters were spent on the back of a skidoo or fishing with his brother Fred. After his retirement, he spent hours tinkering in his garage on anything mechanical, puttering around his yard or taking long drives exploring nature.
He was a true kid at heart, he always had a joke to share or a gentle loving tease for those he cared about, and his mischievous smile was infectious.
The most important thing in David’s life was his family. Although he will be missed dearly, his humility, kindness and loyalty will never be forgotten.
David is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Alice (nee Marr); his two daughters, Alison MacDonald, Plymouth and Leanne MacDonald (Andrew Killick), Calgary, Alta.; and his grandson, Carson, Calgary.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ivor and Fred MacDonald.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Union Presbyterian Church with Mr. John Reeves officiating. Interment to follow at Thorburn Cemetery.
