Obituary
David “Dave” Eaton Ostrosser passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 91, from pneumonia in Calgary, AB. Dave grew up in Vancouver and attended UBC. One of his favorite stories to tell was from his days as a lifeguard at the Stanley Park pool when the penguins from the Vancouver Zoo would come to swim on hot days, and how the children loved to herd the penguins back into an ice cream truck to go back to the Zoo.
He came to Calgary in the 1950’s to work in the oil and gas industry. This is where he met and married his beautiful, sweet wife, Jean (Sveinson) from Red Deer. His generous, fun-loving, gregarious, playful spirit will be missed by all who knew him. There was a special place in his heart for family, golf, walking, reading, visiting beaches, spending time with dogs, and volunteering to help others. Dave, GPD, was a very dedicated grandfather and traveled to Los Angeles for every birthday and special occasion of his 3 cherished grandsons.
Dave was a long-time member of the Glencoe Club and a founding member of Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club; he was an avid sportsman. Dave is predeceased by his wife Jean, son Richard, brother Richard (Beverly), and sister Betty Brown. He is survived by his children Jeff (Natasha) and Jill Davis (Tony, Jack, Charlie, & Spencer); his beloved nieces and nephews Abigail Merinsky (Tom, Richard (Jessica) and Margot), Lesley (John) Thompson, Dwight (Monique, Fred (Caitlin) and Josee), and Dayton (Cattleya, Kira, Caelan, Rianna), who all fondly called him Great Uncle Dave or GUD.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at Rocky View Hospital.
Donations can be made in lou of flowers to the Canadian Heart Foundation.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Eaton Ostrosser February 20 1930 August 5 2021 (age 91)..
