Obituary
Dave passed away quietly at Toronto General Hospital in the early morning of August 22nd 2021, after a long and arduous battle with cancer. In May 2018, Dave had a leg fracture that was caused by osteosarcoma, and required major surgery to restore his leg and chemotherapy to treat the cancer. Unfortunately the cancer moved to his lungs in 2019 and despite surgeries and some innovative treatments, the cancer complications took a toll. Dave was at peace knowing he had fought a long battle, and it was his time to move on.
Dave was born in Toronto back on the 10th of November 1952, the first born of four children to Keith and Doris Clark. Being the first born to new parents meant Dave had a golden opportunity to test out their parenting skills, and to pave the way for his siblings in learning what to do, and what not to do.
Dave was a rebel and a pioneer, with no hesitation for trying new things. He grew up in Etobicoke and went on to Ryerson after high school. His work life spanned a few different jobs, but he spent most of his career working in the IT/Logistics department for Sears Canada. He was gradually retiring just as Sears was closing up in Canada and the USA.
Dave had a love for sports which continued throughout his life. He enjoyed playing sports, watching sports and yes betting on sports. He enjoyed skiing, cycling, football, baseball, basketball and hockey. Dave developed a strong interest in Native Indian art and over the years had collected numerous paintings from creative artists in the province. He had a love for music as well. He was especially fond of his friends Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan.
What Dave appreciated most over the years were the many friendships he had made, and the times getting together with others. He was known for his wit and sarcastic humour, but most of all his kindness and generosity to those he cared most about. He will be missed.
Dave is survived by his brother Don (wife Nancy), his sister Cathy (husband Louis), and youngest brother Bruce (estranged). His father Keith passed away in October 2012, and his mother Doris just recently passed away in May 2021. Dave will soon be resting by their sides.
Dave will be missed by his nephews Chris (Melissa), Phil (Jacqui), Mike (Allie) and Alex. He will be fondly remembered by his numerous cousins and many friends.
There are no services planned at this time. As per Dave’s request, following cremation his ashes will be laid to rest next to his parents’, and a private service will be held at the cemetery. At a later date a small celebration of life will be arranged for close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family would most appreciate any kind words, memorable stories or photos of Dave to be shared here. If you would prefer making a donation, please consider a Canadian charity that specifically funds cancer research.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Dave Brian Clark November 10 1952 August 22 2021 (age 68)..
