Darren Francis
Brooks – 54, Truro,
passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at his home. If you’re reading
this then I guess I’m gone; please don’t grieve too deeply for me
because I’ve gone home to be with the Lord!!! I’ve gone home to be
with my dad, Kenneth Brooks; grandparents, Joe and Mary (DeCoste)
McDonald; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beryl (Aylward) and George
Johnson; several aunts and uncles and my precious nephew, Jason
Smith.
I leave
behind, only for a while, my beautiful wife, Sheryl (Smith) Brooks;
fur babies, Hannah and Brutus; mother, Beulah (DeCoste) Brooks;
brothers, Danny Brooks (Jill, I really love you; thank you for being
there, and thank you for taking such good care of my big brother; I
really love you guys) and my baby brother, Curtis Brooks. (I’ll always
be watching over you.); my brother from another mother, Robert
Loscher; sisters-in-law, Michelle Smith, Sharron Smith;
brothers-in-law, Steven Smith, John Johnson (Maureen); beautiful
nieces, Christina Brooks, Jillian (Paul), Jessica Smith, Emily
Nichols; nephews, Zach Muise, Dustin Nichols; great nephews, Harlen
MacDonald and Elliot Stewart; aunt, Nornie “aka Big Nan”
(Norma McNutt) and Shirley MacDonald; uncles, Carl (Jean), Jim
(Loraine) MacDonald, Albert (Bonnie) Johnson, Robert (Joanne) Johnson;
beloved cousins and friends.
One of my
greatest accomplishments was getting my beautiful Sheryl to marry me
and my second was keeping her for over 21 years! I had my own business
for many years and in 2009 I began working in Corrections and finished
my career at Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth.
My wife and I traveled throughout NS and NB evangelizing and singing;
we’ve helped start two churches, taught Sunday school, Youth Group,
Seniors Ministry, Praise and Worship; anything we could do for the
Lord we did with a grateful heart. I pray that whoever may be
reading this right now, if you don’t know Jesus Christ as your
personal Lord and Saviour, that right now you ask Him to come into
your heart and life to forgive you of the wrongs you’ve done and to
help you serve the Lord and make Him Lord of all you do.
I also want to thank all of those who
helped us financially and helping me to get medical equipment; it was
greatly appreciated. Many thanks to my forever pastor and
friend, Danny Gibson, dear friends, Glen Kincaid, Reese Rocky, Jerry
Hadley (who’s also my papa), Pastors Dave and Julie McLean, Jeff and
Sue Brown and Pastors Neil and Christine Barr. Many thanks to Village
Family PharmaChoice, who have two locations to serve you better; at
both locations you guys have all been so wonderful, even you Sarah!!
To the world’s greatest doctor, EVER, Dr Sarbjit Singh…I
love you, man, and thank you for always being there no matter what
time of day or night. We are so very lucky to have both Dr. Singhs in
Truro; our hospital would be lost without them both. Do something kind
for your doctors and if you don’t like your doctor then do something
kind for Dr. Singh!!!! (And Caitlin really deserves a raise, just
saying…) To the VON and Palliative Care support
team, you guys have been there every step of the way; God bless you!!
Your job’s not easy and thank you for always giving me dignity and
grace!!! Also to the nurses in ICU and 3rd floor, you guys are
fantastic…much love and appreciation for all you do. Uncle
Albert and Aunt Bonnie, Mildred will be watching over you dears until
we meet again.
