Darrell’s Obituary
With heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the sudden passing, on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Health Science Centre, of one of the greatest men we ever knew, Jerome Darrell Stamp, of St. Vincent’s, St. Mary’s Bay, aged 56 years. Predeceased by his brother Dermot Synyard and many other relatives of the Stamp and Hayward families. Leaving to mourn his parents Jerome & Evelyn Stamp and his sisters and brothers: Mary Devereux (Jerome), Melvin Stamp, David Synyard (Gloria), Sheldon Stamp (Gillian), Anita Roth, Patrina Doran (Tony) and Denise Pennell (Mark). As well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends who loved him dearly. We want to thank everyone who visited the hospital, those who dropped off food and expressed their love. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Health Science Emergency and ICU departments for all their kindness and compassion and most importantly for the care they gave him – Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. While we cry and mourn our loss, Darrell will be always remembered as a man who loved his family and loved to go out with his friends and was always up for a fish fry. He lived a wonderful life and was a hard worker
Public visitation will be held, in keeping with current COVID-19 regulations, at Sacred Heart Church, St. Vincent’s, on Friday, August 27, from 10am – 4pm; 6pm – 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 28, at 11am, by invitation only due to COVID-19 restrictions. Burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may also be made to the St. Vincent’s Volunteer Fire Department in care of Jerome. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s.
