Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Glenda Darlene McLaren, who died peacefully in the Red Deer Regional Hospital on March 16, 2021 at the age of 78 years. She was born August 18, 1942 in Wetaskiwin.
Darlene was a loving mother and friend to her six children: Beverly (Luke) Peters, Bonnie (Cameron) Kent, Michele (Jay) Le Blanc, Gary, Neil (Jennifer), and Teresa (Roger) Harrison. She will be lovingly remembered by her 11 grandchildren: Chelsea (Matthew), Erin (Stefan), Cody, Clayton, Jenna-Rae (Conner), Jason (Alicia), TJ (Kelsey) Tanner (Kelli), Chandler, Kai, Asher, Michael, Halle and Kelsie; and 9 great- grandchildren: Holly, Evelynn, Mason, Cayson, Kayz Karter, Brookes, Brody, Macy, and Riley. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Susan Stewart. Darlene was predeceased by her parents Glen and Myrtle Stewart, and her brother Stanley Stewart.
Darlene will be fondly remembered for her quick smile and bubbly laughter, she was hard working and ever encouraging, especially to those young people who worked with her at Bob Ronnie’s Catering for many years. She was also famous for her cake decorating skills and did many cakes for many people in the community, nicknamed “The Cake Lady”. Mom was an avid gardener and judged 4-H garden club. She was a very long time member of the Concord Ladies Group and Church of the Open Bible, and very involved with 4-H and the Alberta Limousin Association. She will be sadly missed by her family and many, many others in the community.
A Memorial Service and Burial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Darlene’s memory to the Ferrybank Cemetery.
