Darlene Farrell
1934-2021
It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the peaceful
passing of our beautiful mother, Darlene Yvonne Farrell, on March 22,
2021, in the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. She
was born in Hamilton, Ontario on November 19, 1934 to the late Fred
and Clara (Stenebaugh) Setzkorn. Darlene was a devoted wife and mother
who was immensely proud of her family. She leaves behind nothing but
wonderful memories and a legacy of kindness. She was a faithful member
of Christ the King Church, Trenton, and more recently St. John the
Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Mom and Dad spent 59 years together,
raising four sons: Fred, New Glasgow; John; Ken (Kim) Quarry Island;
Darryl (Sandra), Trenton; and two daughters: Lorie (John),
Abercrombie; Ginny (Ron), Little Harbour. She is also survived by
grandchildren: Matthew, Virginia, Elizabeth, Crystal, John, Yvonne,
Liam and Danielle; and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Kai and Amelie.
Also left to mourn is her sister, Donna Morton, New Glasgow. Darlene
was predeceased by her parents, loving husband, Walter, and son John.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist
Church, New Glasgow, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating at 11 am on
Saturday, March 27, by invitation. Cremation has taken place and
interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Darlene’s memory may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of
R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
