Obituary of Daphne Joanne Johnson
Joanne Johnson, June 2, 1948 – July 9, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Joanne Johnson, 73, of St. Catharines, Ontario, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital after a short illness. Joanne was a generous soul who lived a rich life, full of adventure and love. She was an avid reader who wrote with wit. She was also a dedicated genealogist who traced the Johnson/Montgomerie family tree branches with determination. She was happiest in her garden, on long walks with her dog Burly, or watching her Buffalo Bills football team. Joanne’s most treasured memories were of special moments with her grandsons.
Joanne was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Roy Johnson and Daphne Montgomerie and lived most of her life in the Niagara Region. Joanne is survived by her sons, Frederick Grey of Virginiatown, Ontario and Michael (Darlene), of Beamsville, Ontario, as well as her two grandsons Mitchell and Wiley, her sister Susan (Marc) in Chelsea, Québec and brother David in Tyendinega, Ontario. She is preceded in death by Michael’s father and her life’s love, Wiley Pender, as well as her parents.
No funeral is planned. Memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society, 160 Fourth Ave., St. Catharines, ON; lchs.ca/.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the oncology team at the Greater Niagara General Hospital.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Daphne
