BROWN, Danny Francis
Retired French Teacher, Perth & District Collegiate Institute –
Suddenly entered into rest at his home on Monday, July 26, 2021, Danny Brown of Wellington died at the age of 73. He was the son of Al of Belleville and the late Iva Brown (nee Roycraft). Dan was the loving father of Kaylie Astin (Mark) of Kaysville, Utah and Jessica (Dan) of Astorville and was predeceased by his daughter Melanie Watson (surviving son-in-law Darius) of Perth. He was the dearest grandfather of Ember, Emlyn, Katrina, Jackson, Nash, Liam, Kyle and Meredith. Dan is survived by his siblings Ron (Shelagh), Colleen Tobler (David), Tim (Tina) and Rob (Yolanda) and is predeceased by sister Nancy Hawke, his brother Al (surviving wife Sue) and he will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
From Dan:
To all my friends, family, and to a lesser extent, my enemies – I regret to inform you that, despite my best efforts, I am not, in fact, immortal. I am, however, reassured by the knowledge that my best qualities (my sparkling wit, my incredible good looks, and my debonair charm) have been passed down to my lovely, brilliant, daughters and grandchildren. You may have heard reports that I was a mean old grump. These should be ignored, as they are fabrications from the ungrateful teenagers I taught for so many years. Luckily, I never aged past 29, and retained my beautiful blonde hair to the end, unlike my less attractive, older, siblings. I’m sure I will be remembered by many names – Dan, Danny, Dad, Yucky Dan, Uncle Skunk, Poppa Dan, Poopy Dan, Mr. Brown, F.A.R.T., Crash, M.N.G. – But the most important thing to remember is …. I was right. Well wishers are invited to have a drink in my honour and reminisce about all the good times we had at my going away party to be announced at a later date. No tears allowed, or everyone in the room must turn and fart in your general direction. All are invited to dress in my favourite colour (BROWN!). Those unable to attend in person can email my daughter, Jessica (jayceebee703@gmail.com), and she can provide you with an invitation to a newfangled gadget called Zoom.
Mr. Brown is resting at the Whattam-Hicks Funeral Home, 33 Main Street West, Picton (613-476-2450). In keeping with Dan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences at: www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
