After a battle with pancreatic cancer, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Stedman Hospice on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Dan Borthwick of Scotland, in his 57th year. Loving Husband of Gwen (nee Schlatman) for 33 years. Beloved Son of Ken (Barb). Dear Brother of Sheldon (Krissy) and step-brother of Sue, Joey and Donna. Brother-in-law of Terry (the late Brian) VanWyck, MaryAnne (the late Wayne) Squance, Janice (Bill) Schenk, Hugh Jr (Linda) Schlatman, Joan (Gary) Firth and Roger Schlatman (Sandra). Predeceased by his mother Marion, sister Cheryl, parents-in-law Adele & Hugh Sr. Schlatman, and brother-in-law Allan Schlatman. Dan will be sadly missed by his many family, friends, dog Bailee, and cats Scrounger and Blackie
Dan was a proud member of Unifor Local 88 working at Cami Automotive in Ingersoll for 32 years and a proud union activist for the working man. Dan had a great love of fishing, the outdoors, snowmobiling, golf, curling and a cold beer.
Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to Epilepsy Ontario, your local United Way or the Stedman Hospice.
