It’s with unimaginable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, Cyril Edward Cater “Arch”, aged 57, of Middle Sackville, NS who died on August 16, 2021 in the ICU of the Halifax Infirmary.
Arch was born February 2, 1964 in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and was predeceased by his parents Cyril Cater Sr. and Phoebe (nee. Elliott), his first born son, Brandon, and his sister, Denise and brother-in-law, Dick Bishop.
Arch attended Booth Memorial High School in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL and later moved to Middle Sackville, NS. Where, he worked at EZ Wood Products for 20+ years, a job he thoroughly loved and only left due to his increasing health issues.
Arch is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Charmaine, his main support and care-giver for the past 6 years as his health deteriorated. He is, also, survived by his son, Brady, his sisters Glenda (Dave) Little, Peg (Dave) O’Leary, Sharon (Albert Strickland) Cater, Rhonda Cater, Donna (Calvin) Milley, mother-in-law, Jocelyn Critch (John Grouchy), sister-in-law’s, Tammy Critch (Declan O’Rourke) and Tracey (Walter) Loh (nee Critch), and the light of his life, his only grandson, Brandon DeGrace – Pop’s trout – not to mention, the many nieces and nephews and his large circle of friends, most especially Peter and Denise Mulrooney.
Arch was well known for his quick wit, his love of music and movies, and his generously kind heart. No room was without laughter when he was in it! He loved to DJ and crack jokes and ensure a great time was had by all. He will be sorely missed and the world is a sadder place without him in it. No words can describe the loss felt by his passing and the impact he had on all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robertson for her ongoing medical care, the VON, the Dialysis Team at both the Halifax Infirmary and the VG site, as well as, Dr. Casey and his Vascular Surgery Team.
As per his request, Arch has been cremated and he will be laid to rest at a later date in Newfoundland with his son, Brandon, where a Celebration of His Life will take place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Diabetes Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Cyril Arch Edward Cater February 02 1964 August 16 2021..
