“How lucky are we to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”
It is with great sadness that the family of Cyril Alexander Sampson announces his passing in the early hours of July 31st 2021 with immense courage and with the heart of a fighter. People often say the worth of a man is measured by those he leaves behind. Cyril was a loving father, grandfather, son, husband, uncle, friend and neighbor.
Cyril was preceded in death by his parents Jules and Viola (Mason), wives, Irene Sampson, Brenda Hartling and Shirley McKay; and sister-in-law Vangie Sampson.
He will be forever remembered by his son Evan Sampson, daughter-in-law Holly Sampson and daughter Pamela Sampson. But the joys of his life were his two grandsons Connor and Zaine Sampson.
He is survived by his brothers Freeman Sampson (Vangie) and Victor Sampson (wife Regina) nieces and nephews, Jacqueline MacMaster(Frank); Nathan Sampson (Carmen); Jared Sampson (Nichole); Kimberly Sampson; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Cyril was a good friend to many, but most special to him was his friendship with Perry Marchand. He would always love their early morning talks and his daily trips to Tim Hortons to hang out with friends over coffee and his breakfast sandwich.
He worked hard all of his life, spending many years at Richmond Sand and Gravel. Cyril loved his job and driving dump trucks. But his love of driving extended beyond work. He enjoyed many hours in his little convertible and on his four-wheeler, every mile was a memory. Cyril never let his medical issues slow him down, he faced them with bravery and resiliency.
In his spare time he spent it with his family and friends. His greatest adventures though were with his grandsons who were his everything.
Evan, Holly and Pam would like to sincerely thank all of our family and friends for being with us in the hard times of Cyril’s passing, especially Valerie and Eleanor Sampson, Perry Marchand, Jacqueline MacMaster, Freeman and Victor Sampson, Colleen Samson and special friend, Raylene MacDonald. Cyril was no stranger to hospitals with his weekly visits for dialysis, but the many medical staff at the Richmond Strait Hospital who helped him over the years hold a very important place in our hearts. Memorial donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital Healthcare Foundation.
