Stuart Charles Wilson Creighton of Strathcona County, AB died suddenly at the age of 75 years on December 15, 2021 at home with his wife by his side.
Stuart had a very rewarding and interesting life. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland at the end of WWII on April 14, 1946 to an English mother and Canadian father, he grew up in Ottawa, ON. As a young adult, he decided to move to Australia and lived there for 4 years, worked as a motorcycle mechanic for a while, then travelled the Outback, often sleeping in the open under a true night sky. He returned to Ottawa for a few months, then moved to Scotland for 2 years working in the construction and oil industries.
In 1969, he met the love of his life, Dianne, in Ottawa but it was 9 years before their paths merged in 1978. Together, they moved to Strathcona County, Alberta in 1981 where Stuart worked as an operator at the Suncor refinery in Sherwood Park. Travel continued to be an important part of Stuart’s life as he and Dianne shared holiday adventures in Bali, Singapore, Aruba, Cook Islands, Bahamas and Mexico plus numerous road trips including to Newfoundland and several of the central and western States.
Stuart loved all creatures, especially dogs and horses. He enjoyed motorcycles, classic cars and trucks and country music. He was always ready to meet up for a beer, listen to live music, visit with friends or respond to a call for assistance with a project.
Stu liked to joke around and tease, always with good humour – that’s how he’ll be remembered. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory, please consider the Salvation Army.
