Corkum – Roger Wesley, age 77, of Eagle Head, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29th , 2021, at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, N.S.
Born in Halifax, Roger was a son of the late Clyde and Violet (Chandler) Corkum.
Roger was employed for many years at Bowater Mersey Paper Company as a heavy equipment operator. He was a master woodcarver and was well known for his quality work and enjoyed attending local country and western jamborees. Roger was truly one of a kind and all that knew him loved his incredible sense of humor, contagious laugh and fun loving attitude. Roger was a millionaire in friends and will be greatly missed.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; daughters, Lisa (Joseph) O’Grady of Ottawa, Ontario, Nicky Corkum (Tayo Akamo) of Line Lexington, Pennsylvania; stepson, Blair Smith, of Dartmouth; grandson, Eli; sister, Marlene Dwyer of New Minas; brother, Arthur of Eagle Head.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, April 5th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint John’s Anglican Cemetery, West Berlin. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com.
