Concepcion “Connie Gonzalez December 04 1926 October 30 2021

Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Concepcion (“Conchita”) Gonzalez, peacefully in hospital on Saturday, October 30, 2021. We take solace in knowing that she was at peace, and that she was surrounded by the love and kindness of her surviving son, Milé Komlen.
Conchita was born in 1926 in Granada, Spain, the middle sibling of three, and came to Canada by sea in 1965, landing at Pier 21 in Halifax. She soon arrived in Montreal where she worked briefly at McGill University. With big dreams and strong determination, she moved to Toronto where she met Milé’s father while working at Toronto General Hospital. She then worked for years as a domestic worker and was graciously regarded as part of the generous families with whom she worked.
Conchita was a devoted mother who lived to see the successes of her beloved son and was proud to tell anyone who would listen that he was a lawyer. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Ella and Noah. She loved them unconditionally and delighted in their calling her Abuela.
In later years, she was known among friends as “Connie” and enjoyed her last days in a private retirement home, living independently until her passing just a few days short of age 95. A fractured hip during the third wave of the pandemic was unable to slow her down, and she continued to walk with her trusty rollator until the very end.
Connie was a model of perseverance and faced adversity with fearless determination. She had a strong work ethic and fashioned herself as a lady, making it known that she shared a birth year with Queen Elizabeth. Those who knew her would agree that she was always meticulous about her appearance, with golden hair and all.
There will be a small funeral service at Cardinal Funeral Home on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 6:00 pm. (Private interment at York Cemetery the following day.)
Donations in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation.
Beginning July 16, 2021 the Bereavement Authority of Ontario is once again permitting visitations and services to take place that are open to the public. We must continue to maintain physical distancing, the wearing of masks and may not allow more than 40 guests at any one time. Once the maximum limit has been reached, we will ask any additional guests to kindly wait outside in a physically-distanced line until there is room to enter safely.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Concepcion “Connie Gonzalez December 04 1926 October 30 2021..
